Cafeteria Chronicles: North Crawford School District (Soldier Grove, WI)
Investing in culinary skills helped unlock the full potential of the school nutrition team at North Crawford School District in Soldier Grove, WI. The district relied on Healthy Meals Incentives (HMI) grant funding to train their staff in scratch-cooking techniques, which led to healthier meals in the lunchroom. Keeping students at the heart of this transformation was important, so taste tests and school gardening opportunities were incorporated as well. With more scratch-made, nutritious meals on the menu, students are more excited than ever to eat meals at school!
